They live in rocky gores and steep hillsides of South Africa where they feed on insects, fruit, grains and other small animals. The Baboons bare young after a gestation period of 6-7 months. The baby is carried by the mother for several weeks until it is able to venture short distances by itself.

AUSTRALIAN SECTION

Australia is known for its wide variety of unusual animals, the most famous of which is the kangaroo. The kangaroo is the largest marsupial (an animal that carries its young in a pouch). In our Wild Safari, we have two types of kangaroo - the Red Kangaroo and the Wallaroo.

BLACK BEAR

The American black bear is the smallest of all bears found in the wooded areas of North America. All Through the summer, the black bear feeds on fish, berries and fruit in order to prepare for its winter hibernation in hollow trees and caves.

ELEPHANT  SECTION

This section features the African elephant (the largest land mammal in the world); the white rhinoceros (generally, a peaceful animal); and the ostrich (the largest living bird).

EUROPEAN BROWN BEAR

The European Brown Bear can reach a length of 6-7 feet from the tip of his nose to the end of his 2 inch tail, and weigh 500-700 lbs. They come from the windier parts of Europe and northern Asia where in autumn they accumulate fat in preparation for the winter hibernation.

GIRAFFE SECTION

The Giraffe is the tallest of all animals and can reach a height of 18 feet to the top of the head and weigh up to 2,000 lbs. Giraffes are from the dry Savannah areas of Africa. The gestation period for the giraffe is 14-15 months. The calf can stand 5-6 feet tall at birth and weigh over 100 lbs. Even though the giraffe's neck is much longer than ours, it still contains the same number of neck vertebrae as a human which is 7.

MONKEY JUNGLE

This is the most active and popular section in our Wild Safari because its residents are curious, unpredictable and very social creatures. Our Monkey Jungle is home to the Anubis baboons, also known as old world monkeys. Full-grown baboons are very powerful and aggressive. For your safety, please keep your windows closed!
